City of Ilagan dominates in dancesport

History.

The City of Ilagan Dancesport Team shined bright in the recently concluded DepEd Dos RISE Dancesport Competition after bringing home an impressive twelve gold medals across two categories: Latin and Standard Dances.

This means that the dancesport team has more than half of the gold medals of the City of Ilagan delegation, which finished at 4th place among all divisions - garnering 22 gold, 12 silver and 17 bronze medals.

With exquisite dance moves and come-from-the-heart performances, Latin American dancers swept their competition as they copped all the gold medals for all the dances - Cha Cha Cha, Jive, Rumba, Samba and Paso Doble.

Standard dancers showcased the same passion as the Latin dancers, bringing home the bacon in all of the five Standard dances as well.

The dancesport team won two more gold medals by being the overall champion in both Latin American and Standard categories.

According to Coach Cristian Rola, they didn’t have an entry in mixed discipline, which is the combination of Latin and Standard dances.

Tuguegarao City and Isabela were consistent as well: Tuguegarao City finished second in most Latin dances while Isabela ended at third in most. The exception was Samba, where their positions were interchanged.

In a Facebook post, Marc Louis Mejia, one of the members of the historic dancesport team formally signed off and expressed his gratitude to his family, coaches, trainers, sponsors and all the people behind their success.

The members of the extraordinary dancesport team were all smiles in their pictures in the same Facebook post.

Family, friends and acquaintances of the team members congratulated them for their commendable feat.
