First in the Valley: City of Ilagan launches MPUVs


The City of Ilagan launched Modernized Public Utility Vehicles (MPUVs) which are bound to operate in various routes through the City being the first not just in the province of Isabela but in the whole of Region 2.


The 58 units of MPUVs were launched after the approval of the Local Public Transport Route of the city and were led by the Ilagan Public Utility Transport Vehicle (IPUTC).


The routes of the air-conditioned MPUV's, stretching out to the secluded places of the city to the Poblacion is commended by the Ilagueno people given its comfortability and cost-efficiency.


"In every undertaking, we must always go back to the very basic agenda of unity and oneness. Pagkakaisa (Unity). For us to achieve the promises of our future and we can beat the challenges with our hearts, our mind, and our will, in order to fulfill our aspirations and achieve the society that we deserve." City Mayor Diaz said in his speech, extending his greatest gratitude for the project during the launching on the 27th of May, 2022.


The project is under the Liveable City Program of Hon. Mayor Jay Diaz is following its mobility pillar "Ilagan towards a liveable city by 2030".


This initiative was made possible in compliance with the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization of the Department of Transportation (DOTR) in partnership with the City Government, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region 2, and IUPTC.


"One of the pillars in achieving a liveable city is addressing mobility. As we can all see, there was a complementary relationship between the forces of this program in order to address mobility." the Mayor added.
